Solution-focused Brief Therapy

in Tempe, AZ

More than a chat with your best friend. Less than committing to a full year of therapy.

Sometimes you don't need years of therapy to make meaningful changes. You just need a little support, a fresh perspective, and a plan to move forward.

At Find Your Shine in Tempe, Arizona, we offer Brief, Solution-Focused Therapy with Paige Verboncoeur, LCSW. This short-term counseling option is designed to help you work through a specific concern, identify what's already working, and create practical steps toward change.

Think of it as therapy with a focus: less time digging through everything that's ever happened to you and more time figuring out what you want to happen next.

You bring the concern. We'll help you find a way forward.

Think Urgent Care (not crisis care) but for mental health.

Sometimes you don't need a long-term treatment plan. You just need to talk to someone, sort through what's happening, and figure out your next step.

Brief, Solution-Focused Therapy is designed to make getting mental health support easier, faster, and less overwhelming.

Here's what you can expect:

  • Book a session within 2 hours. Get support when you need it, without waiting weeks for an appointment.

  • Minimal paperwork. We keep the intake process simple so you can spend less time filling out forms and more time getting support.

  • One concern, one conversation at a time. Meet with a therapist to talk through a specific challenge, situation, or decision.

  • Future-focused, not past-focused. Rather than spending sessions digging into your history, we'll focus on what you want to change, what's already working, and how to move forward.

It's professional mental health support without the long-term commitment. No pressure to unpack your entire life. Just a space to get perspective, build a plan, and take your next step.

Brief, Solution-focused Therapy: What brings people in?

You don't have to be falling apart to benefit from talking to a therapist. Sometimes, you just need help getting unstuck.

People come to brief therapy because:

  • You're navigating general life stress.

  • You have a difficult decision to make.

  • You're dealing with relationship conflict.

  • College has you feeling overwhelmed.

  • You have anxiety about an upcoming event.

  • Parenting is testing your patience.

  • The holidays are bringing extra stress.

  • You just want a professional sounding board.

Sound familiar? You don't have to figure it all out on your own. Sometimes one conversation can help you see things differently and decide what comes next.

Brief Therapy: What does it look like?

Think focused conversations, practical strategies, and forward momentum.

Here's what you can expect:

  • Talk to a therapist about one specific concern. Use your sessions to talk through what's happening right now and what you'd like to change.

  • Get practical tools and strategies. Walk away with skills you can actually use in your everyday life.

  • Collaborative problem-solving. Work with your therapist to explore options, identify what's getting in the way, and figure out your next steps.

  • A short-term commitment. Sessions may range from 1–8 appointments, depending on your goals and clinical needs.

The goal? Help you feel more equipped, confident, and prepared to navigate what's happening right now.

A Note: This Service Isn't For Everyone

We believe in finding the right kind of support for the right situation. While brief, solution-focused therapy can be helpful for many everyday challenges, it isn't the best fit for everyone.

This service may not be appropriate for individuals experiencing:

  • Active psychosis.

  • Active suicidality.

  • A desire or need to process past trauma.

A few additional things to know:

  • This service does not include diagnostic assessments or treatment of a specific mental health diagnosis.

  • If your concerns require more than 6–8 sessions, we'll discuss adjusting your treatment plan to better meet your needs, which may include referrals to other providers.

  • This service is not intended for individuals currently receiving therapy at Find Your Shine.

Our priority is helping you find the support that best fits your needs, even if that means recommending a different service.

Therapist and Client

You Don't Have to Commit to Forever or Drudge Through Your Childhood to Get a Little Support From a Therapist.

Sometimes you just need a place to sort things out, get perspective, and figure out your next step. You don't need to unpack your entire life story or commit to months of appointments to benefit from professional support.

We're here for that.

Interested? Let's talk.

You don't have to have it all figured out before reaching out. Let's start with a conversation about what's bringing you in and whether brief, solution-focused therapy is the right fit.
